Over 5 hours of music across 4 discs.
When I think of 12" singles, I usually associate them with the decade of the '80s, but this beautiful, sexy, dance-tastic 4 CD set of extended disco mixes recently arrived in my mailbox with an implied message: "You can stick that revisionist history where the sun don't shine. Educate yourself, son! They've been around since '74!" Includes two of my all-time favorite disco tunes, Don't Leave Me This Way and If I Can't Have You, closely followed by Love Hangover and whatever cuts Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards were involved with.
Click on the thumbnail below for a brief history of the legendary Tom Moulton inventing both the disco mix and the 12" single, excerpted from the highly recommended book by Will Hermes, Love Goes To Buildings On Fire, heavily citing Love Saves The Day by Tim Lawrence.
Tracks: The first two discs are quite good, but things really get cookin' on discs 3 & 4.

Personal Memory Associated with this CD: Lots of polyester-infused disco dancing memories from my junior high days. You think your humble blogger at age 13 wasn't a disco dancin' fool?!? Fuhgeddaboudit. Step aside, Tony Manero. The only song I remember from the 8th grade dance at which the below photo was taken is Last Dance by Donna Summer, which was, of course, the last song played that evening.
