Since September 2010, this blog has recorded the journey of this music junkie as I attempt to listen to all the music in my CD collection. CDs revisited in their entirety from start to finish - no skipping tracks, no shuffle. Compact Discs only - no vinyl, no tapes, no files.

Various Artists - More Music from the Motion Picture The Wedding Singer (1998)

CD cover

All these years on, I'm not really sure why I bought this disc as I have most of the songs on other compilations. If I had to guess, I'd speculate that I bought it for Kajagoogoo's Too Shy and A Flock Of Seagulls' best offering: Space Age Love Song. Reasons aside, this album, like its predecessor, is also a pretty good New Wave compilation when you ignore the fact that it's a shameless cash-in. There are no number one hits here and only 7 of these songs broke into the Top 40 (see below) but we all know chart success isn't necessarily an indication of popular longevity.

Peak on the US Billboard Top 200 chart: #22 (Aug 29, 1998)

Now that I think about it, I don't even remember Space Age Love Song appearing in the movie. In any case, it's the only Flock Of Seagulls song I like. The Love Stinks scene is one of the better ones in the movie (I realize that's not saying much). I could do without the Dead Or Alive and Adam Sandler tunes. Sandler is smart, though - by including his own song on the soundtrack, he's guaranteed himself a cut of the album's profits whether we listen to the song or not.

    1. Love it. I had the White Feathers LP back in high school. Import version, natch.
