Since September 2010, this blog has recorded the journey of this music junkie as I attempt to listen to all the music in my CD collection. CDs revisited in their entirety from start to finish - no skipping tracks, no shuffle. Compact Discs only - no vinyl, no tapes, no files.

Secondhand Jive (2002)

"LET'S GET IT OVER WITH" WEEK (OCTOBER 15-21, 2012)

Some Alabama kids playing something resembling New Orleans-style rock meets Barenaked Ladies meets jam band. I bought a new Dell computer around 2004 and a mp3 file from this band was in the included software package. That song, San Francisco, had a cool funky vibe with some Hammond B-3, harmonica, and a great piano riff. I liked it immediately. I picked up this album based on that one song and that was a big mistake. The cool vibe is somewhat present throughout, but good songwriting is not.

Peak on the US Billboard Top 200 chart: Did not chart

Tracks: San Francisco - which you can check out on the band's MySpace page. (Hey, don't judge them! MySpace was once a place where new bands could pimp their music. Then it quickly descended into a vast social wasteland full of 19 year old guys who apparently didn't own shirts and 19 year old girls who apparently didn't own pants.)

Personal Memory Associated with this CD: None
