Since September 2010, this blog has recorded the journey of this music junkie as I attempt to listen to all the music in my CD collection. CDs revisited in their entirety from start to finish - no skipping tracks, no shuffle. Compact Discs only - no vinyl, no tapes, no files.

Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music - Street Life: 20 Great Hits (1989)

I absolutely love the 1982 Roxy Music album, Avalon, but I've never really ventured into the band's back catalog. A few years back, I found this compilation for $1 and couldn't pass it up. What this CD taught me is that I prefer the band's later stuff to their earlier stuff. That's not to say the early stuff is bad - the modified Bo Diddley beat of Pyjamarama is irresistible, for example - but I dig the smoother tunes that followed. And I should probably find copies of the Manifesto and Flesh + Blood albums.

Compilation released 1986 in the UK, 1989 in the US.
