Since September 2010, this blog has recorded the journey of this music junkie as I attempt to listen to all the music in my CD collection. CDs revisited in their entirety from start to finish - no skipping tracks, no shuffle. Compact Discs only - no vinyl, no tapes, no files.

Various Artists - Music from the Motion Picture Phenomenon (1996)

Don't remember much about this movie other than Travolta was completely upstaged by a more talented supporting cast that included Robert Duvall. Likewise, this adult contemporary soundtrack is pleasant but mostly forgettable except for for a few tracks. A typical soundtrack collection of the time, this includes a big hit, a few covers, and a few previously released oldies.

Peak on the US Billboard Top 200 chart: #12

Tracks: Certainly Change The World by Eric Clapton (#5 pop, #1 AC, Grammy awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, & Best Pop Male Performance) is the best track on the album by design, but it is given a run for its money by the inclusion of Marvin Gaye's 1972 gospel ballad, Piece Of Clay. The rest is good enough for background music; Aaron Neville does a nice cover of Van Morrison's Crazy Love, Taj Mahal delivers his usual strong performance, and then there's the unique sounds of The Iguanas. Skip the Jewel track.

Personal Memory Associated with this CD:  None, but I can't think of the word "phenomenon" without hearing this in my head:
